Awanish (Awi) Sinha is a partner in the Litigation Group of McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Toronto. He has significant experience litigating large-scale and complex infrastructure and energy projects. Sinha also acts as a multi-dimensional problem-solver, providing a mix of strategic guidance and holistic risk management beyond traditional advocacy to clients involved in transformational or disruptive change, often involving the cross-pressures of legal risk, public perception, and diverse stakeholders. Currently, Sinha is advising the Liquor Control Board of Ontario on the legalization of recreational cannabis; the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation on the modernization of provincial gaming; the Department of Justice Canada on its legal risk management strategies; and Uber Canada on a variety of Canadian litigation. Sinha has particular expertise advising high-profile business and political leaders on sensitive matters of personal, reputational, and strategic significance. He currently serves on McCarthy Tétrault's National Diversity Task Force as its ambassador to Legal Leaders in Diversity and, in 2014, he was awarded the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) Legal Excellence Award. In 2015, Sinha served as Toronto Counsel for the Liberal Party of Canada's federal election campaign. He is a board member of the Canadian Club: Toronto and was currently, shortlisted as a nominee for Canadian Lawyer magazine's "Top 25 Most Influential 2018."
